MotoLean support
A question, a bug, an idea? A real person reads and replies, within 2 to 3 business days. Note: the app interface is currently in French only (Réglages = Settings).
Lean angle
Calibrating the lean angle. Put the phone on its mount, engine off, bike stable and upright, then open Settings → Lean angle → Calibrate. The calibration is kept: redo it only if you change mount or bike.
The angle shows “—°” or “Not calibrated”. The lean angle hasn't been calibrated yet. GPS, speed and track are still recorded.
The angle looks wrong. Redo the calibration with the bike perfectly upright, and check that the mount doesn't move: a mount that vibrates or swivels skews the reading. The color scale (Cruise, Standard, Sport) is set in Settings → Display.
During a ride
Does recording continue with the screen locked? Yes, as long as the ride was started from the app and location access is allowed. iOS then shows the location indicator. By default, MotoLean also keeps the screen on while recording (Settings → During the ride).
Ending a ride. Press and hold the stop button until the ring fills up: this is on purpose, to avoid stopping by accident with a gloved hand.
Auto-pause. Once turned on in Settings, it pauses recording after 45 seconds stationary, and resumes as soon as you ride off.
My ride wasn't saved. A ride shorter than a few dozen meters, or without enough GPS signal, isn't kept. Check that location access is allowed for MotoLean in iOS settings.
Battery. GPS, an always-on screen and sensors use energy: for a long ride, plug the phone into a power source.
Map, corners and danger zones
What do the corner colors mean? On a planned route, each upcoming corner is colored by your current speed: green if it suits the corner, orange if it's a bit fast, magenta if you need to slow down. Choose Wet in Settings → Corners when it rains: corners change color earlier. These are estimates, not guaranteed limits.
I'm not getting danger-zone alerts. Check that the option is on in Settings → During the ride. Zones cover France only, and only those ahead of you (and on your route, if you have one) are announced. Sounds and haptics are turned on separately.
Why a “zone” rather than the exact speed camera location? French law (article L130-11 of the Highway Code) forbids signaling the precise location of an enforcement device in real time. MotoLean therefore announces a stretch of road, like driving-assistance apps do.
Gas stations don't show up. They need an Internet connection and refresh about every 2 km. The option is in Settings → Map, along with the choice between a tilted 3D view and a top-down view.
Rides and data
Exporting a ride. From a ride's summary, the GPX button creates a file to import into Strava, Files or any mapping app. The Share button sends a short text summary.
Deleting rides. Swipe a ride to the left in the Trips tab, or delete them all from Settings → Data. Deletion is permanent.
Getting my rides on a new phone. MotoLean has no account or server: your rides only carry over through an iPhone backup (iCloud or computer) restored on the new device. Remember to export the rides you care about as GPX.
Switching to miles. Settings → Display → Units: km/h and km, or mph and miles.
